Local politics in the week from January 19 to 25

Five local political appointments are on the calendar for the coming week - including the first meeting of the new Committee for Equal Opportunities and Integration.

Tuesday, January 20,
The municipal policy week begins with the meeting of the Eurogress operating committee at 5 p.m. in conference room 3 of the Eurogress on Monheimsallee. The annual financial statements for Eurogress Aachen 2024, parking on the Bendplatz and the catering for third-party events in the business and event area in the Tivoli managed by Eurogress are on the agenda.

The operating committee for Aachener Stadtbetrieb will also meet at 5 p.m. in the meeting room on Madrider Ring. The three public items on the agenda are: the 2026 business plan, the recycling of waste paper and the maintenance of trees and shrubs at playgrounds.

Wednesday, January 21,
The Committee for Equal Opportunities and Integration will meet at 5 p.m. in the Council Chamber of Aachen City Hall. The results of the integration project at the Beeckstraße cooperative comprehensive school will be presented there. The committee will also discuss the distribution of funds for integration measures in 2026 and the current situation of benefit recipients who receive subsistence assistance or basic security benefits or benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act.

The Aachen-Eilendorf district council meets from 5.30 p.m. in the meeting room of the district office on Heinrich-Thomas-Platz. Among other things, the district council will discuss a status report on the replacement/new construction of the bridge on Wolfsbendenstraße with upgrading of the Eilendorf train stop, an energy-efficient refurbishment of the Eilendorf fire station and the 2026 budget discussions.

Thursday, January 22,
The planning committee discusses the "Liebigstraße/Metzgerstraße" development plan, the progress report on the site development of the new fire and rescue station 2 in Kornelimünster and a planned amendment to the law on the protection of historical monuments at its meeting from 5 p.m. in the council meeting room.
