At its meeting yesterday (Tuesday, February 24), the Sports Committee unanimously approved grants for sports equipment for two Aachen sports clubs. Both applications were submitted in 2025.

The athletics department of the Deutscher Leichtathletik Club Aachen 1932 e. V. has applied for a grant to purchase a timing system. The reason: the three Aachen city clubs Aachener TG, Alemannia Aachen and DLC Aachen with their running events Winterlauf, Stadtparklauf and Silvesterlauf have been enriching Aachen's sporting life for many years. Among other things, this requires expensive timing equipment. According to the offer submitted, the total costs for the purchase of the timing system amount to 5,938.10 euros. With a subsidy of 25 percent of the total eligible costs, this results in a subsidy of 1,484.53 euros.

The cheerleading department of the Post-Telekom-Sportverein Aachen e. V. needs new runner mats because the old ones are no longer fully functional after 25 years. The total cost of the purchase is 10,234 euros, with a 25 percent subsidy of 2,500 euros.
