Krakaustraße: City informs about the planned redesign

In Krakaustraße, Regionetz renovated and renewed the wastewater and supply lines in 2025. Large parts of the traffic areas were used in the process. So far, the areas used have only been provisionally restored. In the next step, the city wants to redesign the surfaces of the road so that they meet current requirements in terms of road safety, sojourn, environment and climate protection. The premium footpath concept will be implemented on the eastern sidewalk. New trees will also be planted there with a view to climate and heat protection. The carriageway itself will be designed as a cycle lane.

In May and June 2024, politicians commissioned the administration to draw up the implementation planning with the aforementioned specifications. The administration will present the current plans for the implementation planning at an event on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, starting at 6 pm. The event will take place in meeting room 170 in the "Am Marschiertor" administration building (Lagerhausstraße 20, 52064 Aachen).

Interested parties can find all project information from March 4 to 18 in the foyer of the administration building "Am Marschiertor", Lagerhausstraße 20, and online at www.aachen.de/krakaustrasse. The administration building is open Mondays to Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Citizens can submit comments, suggestions and remarks on the current planning for Krakaustraße in writing by March 18 in two ways: Firstly via the letterbox in the foyer of the "Am Maschiertor" administration building, Lagerhausstraße 20, and secondly by email to the following address: krakaustrasse@mail.aachen.de
