Literary Summer 2026: Anne Sauer Reads at the Aachen City Library
What if, at a pivotal moment in life, one had made a different choice? Anne Sauer explores this question in her debut novel, *Im Leben nebenan* (Life Next Door), from which she will read on Wednesday, August 13, at 7:00 p.m. at the Aachen City Library. The event is part of the 27th Literary Summer / Literaire Zomer.
The novel centers on Toni, who wakes up one morning to find herself living a completely different life—with a family, a child, and her first great love. With warmth, humor, and sensitivity, Anne Sauer tells a story of missed opportunities, alternative paths in life, and the search for personal happiness.
Anne Sauer, born in 1989, lives in Hamburg and works as a freelance author and host. Her book *Im Leben nebenan* earned her a spot on the SPIEGEL bestseller list. The novel was also nominated for the aspekte Literature Prize and the Harbour Front Debut Prize.
