Open-air theater in Kennedypark
On May 9, Kennedypark will be the setting for an unforgettable day of theater, a highlight for the whole family, starting at 1 pm. DAS DA THEATER will be performing three varied plays that are thought-provoking and invite you to immerse yourself in different worlds and share in the excitement of the characters:
2:30 p.m.: "The NEINhorn and the Birthday" (ages 3 and up)
With "The NEINhorn and the Birthday," the children's book by Marc-Uwe Kling, the lively mythical creature returns to the Kennedy Stage with plenty of fun. This humorous story is about friendship, arguments, and making up, and about how important it is to find compromises. The musical storytelling conveys social values in a child-friendly way and encourages children to be open to new experiences.
4:30 p.m.: "Ronia the Robber's Daughter" (ages 6 and up) "Ronia
the Robber's Daughter," based on the famous children's book by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren, tells a story of freedom, responsibility, and reconciliation, as well as family, friendship, and love. Full of energy and imagination, the story encourages young viewers to find their own path and stand up for themselves. As a musical, “Ronia the Robber’s Daughter” shows how to overcome prejudices—for a respectful coexistence.
8:00 p.m.: "#dieWelle2026" (ages 14 and up)
The 1981 bestseller *The Wave* is based on a real experiment conducted by teacher Ron Jones at a California high school in 1967 to demonstrate how easily people can be manipulated and exploited. The play #dieWelle2026, based on the modern adaptation by the GRIPS Theater, brings the themes of radicalization and abuse of power to the stage. Against the backdrop of May 9, the day on which the victims of National Socialism are commemorated, and current political and social developments, the play remains as relevant as ever.
Additional activities for children include face painting, a bouncy castle and a carousel. These attractions are available free of charge before and between the three plays. Food and drink stalls will be available for refreshments.
