Assumption of school travel costs: application now completely digital
From paper to digital: anyone who wants to apply for reimbursement of school travel costs from this year must now do so online. The city of Aachen has switched the process completely to digital for the coming 2026/2027 school year. This should help to shorten processing times and simplify the application process if applications are submitted in good time.
Starting Wednesday, April 15, the application will be available online, and applications for reimbursement of student transportation costs (Deutschland-Ticket Schüler), including detailed information on the process, can be found on the City of Aachen’s service portal at https://serviceportal.aachen.de/, under the keyword “Schülerfahrkosten.” To apply for student transportation costs, you will need a so-called BundID, which you must use to log in to the student transportation costs portal. Information on registration can also be found on the service portal.
Important information
- A new application must be submitted for each child, even if approval has already been granted.
- An approved ticket is only valid for one school year at a time.
- In future, applications must be submitted annually.
- Changes during the school year (e.g. change of school, leaving school, change of residence) must - as before - be reported immediately and require a new application if necessary.
In order to ensure timely processing before the start of the new school year, the application should be submitted online by Wednesday, June 10 at the latest.
