Paths around the Hangeweiherpark renewed
The surrounding path in Kaiser-Friedrich-Park, also known as Hangeweiherpark, was renovated along Kaiser-Friedrich-Allee from Yorkstraße and along Aachen-Münchener-Allee. The paths, which were between four and 4.5 meters wide, were in a very poor condition. Most of the surface course material was no longer present, exposing the substructure. After the laying of pipes in the Aachen-Münchener-Allee area was completed, the city's Climate and Environment Department took on the task of renewing the paths.
The paths are also a popular and illuminated running route. For this reason, the municipal sports department was also very interested in renewing the paths and provided funding for the section on Kaiser-Friedrich-Allee. The improvement of such infrastructure is in line with one of the objectives of the municipal sports development plan, which expressly aims to enhance the value of non-club sports facilities.
The grit material applied to the water-bound paths still needs to set a little and become firm. Depending on the weather, this can take three to six weeks until the path surface is easy to walk on.
The aim is to renew all the outer paths around Hangeweiher Park in the foreseeable future in order to create a circular walking and running route.
