Election committee determines: Run-off election duly held

In its meeting on Tuesday, September 30, the Election Committee of the City of Aachen determined that Dr. Michael Ziemons has been elected Lord Mayor of the City of Aachen. Ziemons won 50,692 votes in the run-off election on Sunday (September 28). The run-off election was necessary because none of the candidates received more than half of all valid votes on September 14.

A total of 90,473 valid votes were cast, said Dr. Markus Kremer, Head of Elections, at the committee meeting.
