Run-off election: Information event at the town hall

On the evening of the run-off election, September 28, the City of Aachen, together with the Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Markus Kremer, invites all interested Aachen residents to the Coronation Hall of Aachen Town Hall from 5.30 pm. There, you can once again watch on large displays how the provisional final results of the elections for Lord Mayor and City Councillor will develop from the individual results of the polling stations from 6 pm.

All information on the local elections and, from Sunday after 6 pm, the results from the voting districts can be found on the City of Aachen's homepage at aachen.de/wahlen. The contact details of the contact persons for elections in the district offices are also listed there.

It is generally possible to go to the polls without a polling card

You should take your existing polling card with you to the ballot box on Sunday. A new polling card is not required for the run-off election at the polling station. In principle, you can also vote without the polling card. In this case, you should identify yourself at your polling station with an identity card or passport. If you apply for postal voting documents in person at the electoral office or a district office, you can still cast your vote there until September 27.

Applications for election assistance are still welcome

Anyone who would like to support the run-off election can apply to be an election assistant by sending an email to wahlhilfe@mail.aachen.de or using a form that can be found at aachen.de/wahlhilfe. The service is available to anyone aged 16 and over with a German ID card or European eID card in the City of Aachen's service portal. The prerequisite for using the online service is authentication using the bundID with name and password. Anyone who meets the requirements can become a poll worker for the run-off election. You can indicate whether you would prefer to work in a postal or polling station and what role you would like to play on the electoral board.

If you have any questions about local elections, our colleagues in the Aachen-Mitte elections department at Blücherplatz 43 in Aachen (phone 432-1600, fax 432-1607, email wahlen@mail.aachen.de) and at all district offices will be happy to help.
