New program "Never too old - culture keeps you young!" from Kulturbetrieb Aachen
One of the central tasks of the City of Aachen's cultural sector is to reach new target groups. This is especially true for those who otherwise have little contact with cultural offerings. With the new program "Never too old - culture keeps you young!", the Museumsdienst Aachen is now increasingly targeting an older audience with an interest in art and culture.
"This target group is particularly close to our hearts and we are now focusing on the older generation with these offers. Many senior citizens live in seclusion or are no longer mobile. This is where the Kulturbetrieb provides targeted offers to counteract loneliness," explains Irit Tirtey, Managing Director of Kulturbetrieb Aachen.
Joint guided tours with birthday guests, creative workshops in the museums or visits with friends and acquaintances are just some of the ways to discover Aachen's diverse art treasures. At one of the numerous public events, you can enjoy art, experience it under expert guidance, talk to other art enthusiasts and exchange ideas.
In addition to guided tours in the morning on a wide variety of topics, the storytelling café in the newspaper museum is a popular meeting place. Different topics are discussed at each event, with guests sharing their perspectives and memories.
With "art, croissants and jam", after a French breakfast at Café Wunderkammer, you can set off to get to know selected works of art at the Suermondt-Ludwig Museum on a short 30-minute tour. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to chat in the cozy atmosphere of Café Wunderkammer.
"Culture keeps us young, inspires us again and again and with our offers we allow visitors to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of art and thus come up with new ideas," emphasizes Irit Tirtey.
The museum service is happy to bring art to institutions for senior citizens - for example with the so-called Karlskoffer, which conveys an impression of life at the time of Charlemagne that can be experienced with all the senses thanks to the many objects that can be touched. Alternatively, the museum service brings the art case on famous artists, epochs or topics from art history to the facilities.
