Aachen Forest: tree donation and planting campaign on November 29

After last year's "third edition" of the planting campaign was so successfully and enthusiastically received by citizens and companies, the Aachen Municipal Forestry Office in the city's Climate and Environment Department is once again offering a date this year: On Saturday, November 29, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the fourth tree planting and donation campaign will take place in the city forest.

In recent years, the Aachen forest has been severely affected by drought, climate change, damage caused by bark beetles and storms. To create a forest that is better adapted for the future, deciduous trees are being planted in open areas as well as under older spruce and pine trees. This promises a seamless transition to the next generation of forest.

Everyone can take part! During the campaign on November 29, citizens will have the opportunity to plant trees themselves for a donation of 10 euros per tree for the Aachen forest. This amount will be used to purchase the plants and for subsequent maintenance. In principle, only plants from controlled sources and special forest nurseries in the Aachen Forest will be used.

The planting will be accompanied by forestry staff from the city of Aachen and will take place in the city forest/green oak district. A limited number of places are still available. Anyone wishing to take part should register by Wednesday, November 26, at the latest, by sending an email to nick.vondenhoff@mail.aachen.de. The email should include a contact person, the number of people, the number of tree donations and a telephone number. Places will be allocated according to the number of registrations received. A confirmation with exact details of the time and meeting point will be sent on Thursday, November 27.
