City archive closed
The city archive on Aachener Reichsweg will be closed on Tuesday, November 18, due to an internal event. The staff of the city archive will also not be available by telephone on this day.
The reading room will reopen regularly on Wednesday, November 19, at 9 am.
As the "memory of the city", the city archive preserves original documents from a thousand years of history. The archive holdings currently comprise a total of around ten kilometers of shelves, consisting of documents, files, plans and maps, photos and other types of sources. The oldest document is a deed from 1018, the most recent the current daily newspaper.
