Aachen shows commitment - City Park becomes a world of experience on May 18
After last year's successful kick-off, the City of Aachen is once again inviting people to the "Aachen shows commitment" campaign day on Sunday, May 18. From 12 noon to 5 p.m., the Aachen City Park around the Concert Square will be transformed into a colorful world of volunteering. Over 160 associations, organizations and initiatives will present their work here - informatively, creatively and with numerous hands-on activities.
Mayor Sibylle Keupen will be the patron and will officially open the day of action at 12 noon on the concert square. She is looking forward to the second edition of the event with great anticipation and says: "Volunteering is the heart of our urban society. With the day of action, we bring people together, honor their commitment and show how diverse participation can be."
Visitors can expect a varied program for all generations at "Aachen zeigt Engagement": There will be two stages with live music, dance performances and sporting demonstrations, information stands and hands-on activities from over 160 committed associations and groups, children's attractions such as a large bouncy castle, a carousel, the hands-on magician and a competition with attractive prizes.
The day of action is not only aimed at people who are already involved, but above all at people who would like to find out about volunteering opportunities. Whether young or old, sporty, creative, socially interested or simply curious - participation is expressly encouraged.
Accessibility has been taken into account in the planning to ensure that all visitors can participate without any problems. Parking spaces for people with limited mobility are available in front of the Neues Kurhaus, and the stage program is accompanied by sign language interpreters.
The paths in the city park, in front of the Eurogress and on the newly designed concert square are accessible for wheelchair users. Barrier-free sanitary facilities are also available on the grounds. Visitors can purchase a day ticket in the Eurogress parking garage for 3 euros. Numerous seating areas on the event grounds provide additional comfort. There is a drinking water fountain on site to fill your own water bottle. Those who do not bring their own picnic can look forward to a wide range of gastronomic offerings.
The day of action is made possible by the support of numerous companies - including ASEAG, APAG, STAWAG and 100,5 Das Hitradio, who are thus underlining their own commitment to a strong Aachen based on solidarity.
