Kurpark Classix 2025: classical music and pop on the green meadow
Sorcerer's apprentices, star warriors, superheroes, Italian nights and German hip-hop - all this can be heard in the Kurpark at the end of August. The Aachen Symphony Orchestra has already moved its concert stage to Aachen's Kurpark sixteen times and brought classical music to the green meadow. With success: the Kurpark Classix has become an integral part of Aachen's cultural calendar. In its seventeenth edition, the popular open-air festival once again offers a multifaceted program.
Lord Mayor Sibylle Keupen as patron, General Director Elena Tzavara, General Music Director Christopher Ward and organizer Christian Mourad presented the varied programme for the concert days on Friday (23 May). For the first time, the Kurpark will be dedicated to music for a week from Friday (August 22) to Sunday (August 31): with the Aachen Symphony Orchestra and guests such as Rea Garvey and Lost Frequencies.
Whether you're a fan of classical music or a pop fan, this year's concert series once again has plenty to offer for every taste. Mayor Sibylle Keupen is delighted that the well-established event has even more to offer this year: "A great mix between our wonderful symphony orchestra with guests and pop culture. We have once again succeeded in bringing together many different artists. I think there's something for everyone. I'm looking forward to the atmospheric evenings with lots of highlights. As every year, the children's concert with the Aachen Orchestra is a very special highlight for me."
General Director Elena Tzavara is excited about this year's program and is looking forward to the family concert: "This year's family concert with Malte Arkona is called "Magic Music". So there will be magic music from "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" to Harry Potter - from classical music to film music." General Music Director Christopher Ward is fulfilling a long-standing wish at the Last Night: "A film music concert is on the Kurpark Classix program for the first time. Star Wars is number one, but other classics such as Forest Gump are also part of the program."
Organizer Christian Mourad also promises that the Kurpark Classix will remain an open-air festival of classical music, despite all the associated pop events, "even if we are doing an extended version of the programme this year", with a very special atmosphere and a diverse audience. "The Kurpark Classix means: You don't have to be a great music connoisseur to enjoy the program on a picnic blanket with wine and cheese without any fear of contact."
