Start of a very special series in the Altes Kurhaus
A very special encounter in words and music took place in the ballroom of the Altes Kurhaus. Pianist Sebastian Knauer met Johannes Strate, the frontman of the band Revolverheld.
"In this new format, we experienced two artists in our ballroom who, at first glance, come from completely different worlds - classical music on the one hand and German pop on the other. They met at eye level and merged their styles into something completely new. In an intimate setting, they presented an extraordinary mixture of classical piano sounds and the familiar melodies of Revolverheld," explains Irit Tirtey, Managing Director of Kulturbetrieb Aachen.
Great hits such as "Ich lass für Dich das Licht an" and "Das kann uns keiner nehmen!" were performed in unique versions specially arranged for this evening. But it wasn't just about the music. Sebastian Knauer and Johannes Strate chatted easily with each other. Many other insights into the everyday lives of the two stars delighted the audience in the magnificent ambience of the ballroom. It was about thoughts and memories, about the stories behind the songs and about the fascination that arises when two artists get involved with each other beyond the usual boundaries. In addition to the exciting conversations, the premiere audience experienced completely new interpretations of Revolverheld's great successes.
Johannes Strate enchanted his audience with a lot of emotion. The great pop ballads met the classical music of Sebastian Knauer, who took on the musical crossover with great enthusiasm. Between classical and pop, there were many intense moments between music and words, big and soft sounds that got under your skin.
"For Aachen, this was the start of a new series in the ballroom, in which Sebastian Knauer introduces changing star guests in an intimate setting. We are currently planning the continuation of the series," says Irit Tirtey. The internationally renowned pianist Sebastian Knauer has been a regular guest at the Altes Kurhaus for 20 years, where he has brought dozens of prominent actors and actresses to Aachen with his successful "Word meets Music" series.
