Lothringerstrasse officially opens on May 16

The reconstruction of Lothringerstraße and "Lothringerplatz" is complete. The city will officially open the street and square on Friday, May 16, at a celebration starting at 5 pm. Anyone who has the time and inclination can take part in this event.

Lothringerstraße between Oppenhoffallee and Wilhelmstraße has been converted into a bicycle zone. In addition, the square between Friedrichstrasse and Alfonsstrasse has been completely redesigned. It now invites young and old to linger.

The conversion of the footpath between Wilhelmstrasse and Alfonsstrasse has created a premium footpath approximately 2.50 meters wide. In future, this section will be separated from the carriageway by a two-metre-wide hedge strip.

The junctions of Alfonsstrasse, Herzogstrasse and Friedrichstrasse have been raised to the level of the sidewalk. This gives pedestrians priority over crossing traffic at the junctions.

16 new trees with ground cover were planted in the significantly enlarged tree beds.
