"FahrRad in Aachen": Bike training for children and adults
Cycling is a great way to get around, stay fit and protect the environment. To encourage even more people to use their bikes safely and confidently, the city offers free bike training for children and adults as part of its "FahrRad in Aachen" campaign.
For example, there are special training courses for children from the age of five. They learn how to handle a bike properly and how to be safe on the road.
Courses for children
Bicycle training will take place as part of the vacation games on April 14 or 15 from 2 to 5 pm. Another bike training session for children is planned for April 30, from 3 to 5.30 pm.
Courses for adults
The adult training sessions are designed for those who want to learn to cycle from scratch or for those who are inexperienced and want to get cycling again. There are practical exercises and tips on what to look out for when cycling. The curriculum also includes topics such as correct sitting position, braking, cornering and riding in the city.
The adult training sessions for beginners and inexperienced skiers are scheduled for the following days: April 2 and 3 as well as April 26 and 30, always from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Pedelec training
The pedelec training course is aimed at participants who have already bought an electric bike and now want to familiarize themselves with the technology and ride safely on their own bikes. Among other things, they will learn how the different levels of assistance work, how to shift gears correctly and how to make the most of the electric assistance.
The basic pedelec course will take place on April 9, from 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm. The advanced course will follow on April 10, also from 4.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.
In all cases, the city also offers traffic instruction. It provides information on the most important traffic rules and gives practical tips on how cyclists can move safely in traffic. There are bike checks and advice on how to maintain bikes properly.
All courses are free of charge. Individual support is provided. Small groups guarantee personal support. If you would like to take part, please register with Stephanie Küpper at the following e-mail address: fahrrad-in-aachen@mail.aachen.dean.Places are limited.
