Scheibenstraße: Reconstruction of the street begins on Monday, March 24
The planned redesign of Scheibenstraße between Hein-Janssen-Straße and Oberstraße will begin in the week from March 24 to 28, weather permitting. During the work, the crossing point on Hein-Janssen-Straße will also be converted to make it barrier-free. Scheibenstraße will be fully closed between Oberstraße and Hein-Janssen-Straße. The underground car parks will still be accessible via their access roads. The conversion should be completed by the 2025 summer vacation.
The road construction project is a subsidized project with the aim of improving the quality of life and local mobility in the district. The city therefore paid particular attention to the Scheibenstraße area, which is designated as a pedestrian zone, and is now upgrading it. The area connects Oberplatz and the Talstraße depot at the Aretzstraße/Hein-Janssen-Straße junction.
In order to improve the shady green structure along the road, the individual tree beds, which are currently too small, will be linked together in several green strips. This will allow the roots of the trees to absorb more water and develop better.
The existing seating areas between the amber trees will be replaced with new ones. The natural stone benches in front of house number 33 will be retained and given new seating areas. New bicycle racks will be installed at various points along the redesigned section of Scheibenstrasse 13 to provide more parking facilities.
