Green columns plant 115,000 spring bloomers in the city
Cowslips, carnations, violets: For the past few days, the employees of the green crews and the city nursery of Aachen's municipal services have been planting the city's flower beds with a colorful variety of spring flowers. These include ciliate-leaved watercress as well as ribbon flowers and forget-me-nots.
Depending on the planting location, for example in the different districts, different color compositions are used. "Trio violets, i.e. flowers that bloom in three different colors, are currently very popular," explains Andreas Wolff, a planner in the city nursery of the municipal authority, where all the plants for the municipal flower beds are cultivated. These have been planted in front of the former casino and in Monheimsallee, among other places.
115,000 flowers are currently being planted in the municipal flower beds in the city center, the districts and the municipal cemeteries. The green crews had already planted around 280,000 bulbs in the fall. Now the ever more diverse play of colors is steadily unfolding in the city.
