"Four in the Couven" with the Chapelle Quartet Aachen
The popular "Four at the Couven" series once again guarantees an exciting afternoon of concerts on Sunday, July 6, from 4 p.m. at the Couven Museum.
Two concert halves of different lengths determine the program: Dmitri Shostakovich's extremely concentrated Quartet No. 7 in F sharp minor op.108, which expresses the composer's shock at the illness and death of his first wife, is combined with Franz Schubert's last quartet in G major 887, which goes beyond the boundaries of the conventions of the time and is performed for the first time in this series as one of the summit works of the quartet literature.
Founded in Aachen in 2008, the Chapelle Quartet has quickly made a name for itself, particularly through its own concert series "Vier im Couven", which has been enthusiastically received by audiences and critics alike and in which the quartet presents important works of quartet literature four times a year in the historic Couven Museum in Aachen.
