Vetschau gets its own highway access road
The NRW road construction company (Straßen.NRW) will announce the good news on Wednesday evening at the public information event in Laurensberg. After the start date for the bridge renovation was postponed by two weeks from the beginning of July to mid-July at the insistent request of the town hall, the second piece of good news is that an access road to the A4 towards Cologne will be set up via Vetschauer Weg to make up for the lack of a crossing during the demolition and new construction of the Horbach Bridge.
This was made possible by the intensive talks with Straßen.NRW and Autobahn GmbH, to which Lord Mayor Sibylle Keupen had invited people to Aachen Town Hall in view of the problematic situation for Richterich. "Straßen.NRW and Autobahn GmbH have intensively examined the access road to the A4 after our talks. I am very pleased that we were able to negotiate this important milestone for the citizens of Richterich by joining forces despite the short time available." The renovation of Rathausstraße in Laurensberg, which is important for the detour, has also been secured until the bridge closure begins.
The bridge on Horbacher Straße in the Richterich district over the Aachen-Mönchengladbach railroad line is being renewed by Straßen.NRW. The demolition and new construction of the bridge is expected to last until fall 2027. During this time, Horbacher Straße will be closed in the area of the bridge. All traffic will be diverted.
The information event will take place on Wednesday, June 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the auditorium of the Laurensberg school center at Hander Weg 89. The administration will also provide information about the planned detour.
