"Pocketpark Rombachstraße" is opened

The new and widened section of the Vennbahn route between Rombachstraße and Trierer Straße in Aachen-Brand now has one more attraction: the "Pocketpark Rombachstraße" has been created on Rombachstraße and in the immediate vicinity of the Vennbahncenter. The 1230 square meter public green space offers intergenerational play and recreational opportunities and serves as a rest stop on the Vennbahn route.

Next Wednesday, June 25, at 3.30 p.m., the pocket park will be officially opened by District Mayor Peter Tillmanns and Heiko Thomas, Councillor for Climate and Environment, City Operations and Buildings of the City of Aachen. All interested citizens are cordially invited to experience the new green and play area.

Rest and play facilities

Four table-bench combinations, along with simple benches with backrests and armrests and a hammock, offer rest and picnic facilities. The playground has a climbing rope landscape with a small play tower with a slide and a rotating element as well as a rope swing with a thick rope. For smaller children, there is a sand play area with a sand structure and a toddler slide. A parent-child swing and wobbly animals round off the offer. A game of skill also challenges adults. A boules court has been created at the request of residents. And a calisthenics facility has been in active use since the beginning of the year.

The section of the Vennbahn route between Rombachstraße and Trierer Straße is now linked to the An der Schmid residential area and the shopping center by an illuminated path for pedestrians.

In connection with the route extension, the project is an urban development project "Active City Center Aachen-Brand" of the state and federal government and is hereby completed. The funding amounts to 80 percent.
