The next local political week has a lot to offer: A special joint meeting of the Aachen-Richterich and Aachen-Laurensberg district councils has been scheduled. The citizens' forum and the main committee will also be meeting.

Tuesday, June 24

The citizens' forum will meet from 6 p.m. in the council chamber of Aachen City Hall. The future process "City Center Tomorrow" and a citizens' motion to improve the traffic situation on Soerser Weg will be discussed here.

Wednesday, June 25

The meeting of the main committee begins at 5 p.m. in the council meeting room. The municipal audit office of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia will be giving a presentation there. Also on the agenda are the development of a concept for youth participation, the founding of a municipal housing association and the façade design of the "Haus der Neugier".

The Aachen-Richterich and Aachen-Laurensberg district councils will discuss the renovation of the Horbach Bridge in a special joint meeting starting at 5 pm at the Laurensberg school center on Hander Weg. As the information event for citizens on the demolition and new construction of the bridge will take place afterwards at 6 p.m. - also at the school center - the residents' question time will not take place.

Thursday, June 26

The meeting of the Mobility Committee and the AVV Advisory Board starts at 5 p.m. in the Council Chamber. Topics include bus acceleration measures following the end of the A544 closure, improvements to the Brand priority cycle route and the "Aachen goes electric" funding guideline.

The Committee for Science and Digitalization will meet at 5 p.m. in the administration building on Maria-Theresia-Allee (CAMPUS meeting room). The agenda includes a status report on "Smart Shopping" in Aachen, a communication and collaboration platform for Aachen City Council and the IT audit by the Municipal Audit Office (GPA).

The operating committee of the adult education center (VHS) will also meet at 5 p.m. in the VHS Aachen forum on Peterstraße. Three of the topics: the eastern city center, the council motion "Pop-up measures around the Haus der Neugier & Altes Kurhaus" and the new VHS event program.
