Ludwig Forum shows results of the KUNST children's sponsorship award

Getting children excited about art: the KUNST Children's Prize is doing this for the 16th time this year. From Sunday, June 29 to Sunday, August 24, the Ludwig Form for International Art will be showing an exhibition with the artworks of all participants in this year's edition. Over 200 children from 23 elementary school in the Aachen city region have experimented, painted and designed with various materials over the past few months. The primary school courses of the "Aachen Model" have produced a wide variety of works, which are now being presented. A six-member jury has selected five works of art from all the entries, which will be awarded prizes on June 29.

A blooming garden for Peter Ludwig

Under the motto "Through the flower - Happy Birthday, Peter Ludwig", the primary school children present art collector Peter Ludwig with a blooming garden of fantastic plants on the second floor of the museum. The exhibitions "Terrestrial Perspectives" and "Amy Sillman. Oh, Clock!" exhibitions at the museum inspired the children's design. Peter Ludwig, who together with his wife Irene Ludwig built up one of the most important art collections in the world, would have been 100 years old this year.

The sponsorship award

The KUNST Children's Prize, first awarded as part of the Aachen Model in 2009, encourages children in the participating project schools to realize their creative ideas on a multifaceted topic. Since 2010, the Ludwig Forum, with the support of the Bürgerstiftung der Sparkasse Aachen, has been showing the works of all participants in an exhibition. The winners also take part in a workshop with a renowned artist.

The Aachen model

The regional project to promote individual talent started in 2003 at six model elementary school. Today, the Aachen Model is a joint project of the Aachen City Region Education Authority, the City of Aachen and the Bürgerstiftung der Sparkasse Aachen. The three Sparkasse foundations, the Bürger-, Kultur- and Jugend- und Kulturstiftung, have supported the project financially since the beginning. Currently, 23 elementary school are taking part in the art program as part of the Aachen Model, which is dedicated to the early promotion of individual talents.
