The lighting in Westpark is improved. Three more lanterns will be installed along the existing main paths to illuminate dark spaces that can still be found in the Westpark today.

Two of the new lights will be installed along the main path between Lochnerstraße and Welkenrather Straße. A third lantern will be installed along the circular path of the large green area, at the corner of the connecting path between Westpark and Gartenstraße.

The installation work by a construction company and Regionetz will begin after Whitsun and will take around two weeks. The main path between Lochnerstraße and Welkenrather Straße will remain open. Only a small side path with benches in the side area will be closed for a short time so that the necessary cables can be buried.

The Aachen-Mitte district council approved the improved lighting in Westpark at its meeting on May 4, 2022.
