Local politics in the week from June 9 to 15

Despite the public holiday on Whit Monday, six meetings are scheduled for the next municipal policy week.

Tuesday, June 10

The Culture and Theater Operations Committee first meets at 6 p.m. in the administration building on Mozartstraße (room 207). The new night mayor introduces himself there. The committee also discusses the submission of a "standing offer" to conclude an arbitration agreement on the restitution of Nazi-looted property. By submitting a standing offer, the city declares its political consent to the arbitration proceedings. An educational cooperation of the music school is also discussed.

Wednesday, June 11

The meeting of the Aachen-Mitte district council begins at 5 p.m. in the council meeting room at Aachen Town Hall. The district council will discuss, for example, the municipal heating plan, the design of traffic areas in the Büchel old town district and the redesign of Lochnerstrasse.

The Aachen-Kornelimünster / Walheim district council will also meet at 5 p.m. in the meeting room of the local district office on Schulberg. The Kornelimünster parking space concept, the municipal heating plan and the installation of bicycle racks in the "Schmithof Kirche" area will be among the topics discussed.

Thursday, June 12

The Seniors' Council meets from 10 a.m. in seminar room 2 of the Nadelfabrik on Reichsweg. The agenda includes a report on the cash audit, the 2024 statement of accounts and various questions and announcements.

The Committee for Social Affairs, Integration and Demography meets at 5 p.m. in the Council Chamber. Three of the topics: How to avoid mobility poverty with public transport and sharing offers, the International Day of the Homeless and participation in digital offers.

The meeting of the Personnel and Administration Committee starts at 5 p.m. in the administration building on Maria-Theresia-Allee (CAMPUS meeting room). The Health Report 2024 and the concept "Part-time management at the City of Aachen" are the two public items on the agenda.
