Just in time for the halfway point of the school year, the time had come again: the Aachen elementary school basketball tournament was held this week - in 2025 in the large sports hall at Brand comprehensive school. 22 teams from 15 Aachen elementary school took part. More than 150 children gave their best with commitment and enthusiasm - fair, cheerful, colorful, social and loud. The objects of desire were the golden Fair Play trophies for the teams with the fewest fouls, the silver winner's trophy and, for every child, a homework-free voucher! The Fair Play trophy went to the "Air Jordans" from the municipal community elementary school (GGS) Malmedyerstraße and to both teams from GGS Brander Feld, the "Brander Korbknaller 1 and 2".

Sporting winners of the tournament
The "Laurentios" from GGS Laurensberg took first place in the sporting classification. The "Brühlstraßen Baskets" from GGS Brühlstraße and the "Schreckliche Sieben" from the municipal Catholic elementary school (KGS) Birkstraße shared second place. Third place went to the "Vaalser Champions" from GGS Vaalserquartier.

The organizers from the school and club environment, the supporters of the West German Basketball Association (WBV), the Aachen Basketball District, the Sports Department of the City of Aachen and Sparda-Bank as a sponsor were also enthusiastic this year.

Advertising for basketball
The basketball associations and the organizers would like to expressly invite all children to play basketball in the school clubs and in the clubs. The WBV is taking part in the "15,000 x Basketball" campaign. The initiative is part of the social and societal responsibility of the German basketball organizations. The common goal is for children at over 15,000 elementary school in Germany to come into contact with basketball during their primary school years by 2032.
