District electoral committee: Admission of nominations for the Bundestag election
At its meeting today (January 24), the district election committee unanimously approved eight district election proposals for constituency 86 Aachen I for the Bundestag election on February 23: The approval is subject to the condition that the NRW state list of the respective submitting party is approved.
Rhie, Ye-One; SPD
Laschet, Armin; CDU
Benner, Lukas; GREENS
Willkomm, Katharina; FDP
Dr. Fahl, Fabian; DIE LINKE
Berndt, Nadine; FREIE WÄHLER
Radermacher, Alexandra Karoline; VOLT
Brenkfeld, Heinz Peter; ALLIANCE GERMANY
Lord Mayor Sibylle Keupen, as the district returning officer for the Bundestag election, stated at the meeting that these eight proposals had been submitted in due form and time.
The district election proposals of the parties Basisdemokratische Partei Deutschland (dieBasis) and Alternative für Deutschland (AFD) were submitted on time, but do not meet the legal requirements of the Federal Election Regulations for their approval. These were unanimously rejected.
The district election proposal of the grassroots Democratic Party of Germany, Edzard Donatus Kamps, did not meet the formal requirements, as only 55 supporting signatures were submitted instead of the required 200.
The district election proposal of the Alternative for Germany, Manuel Johannes Krauthausen, does not meet the formal requirements because he was elected in a joint general meeting for constituencies 86 Aachen I and 87 Aachen II. However, the election of the respective candidates should have taken place in a separate vote by the members entitled to vote in the respective constituency at the time of the meeting. Accordingly, only the members entitled to vote in constituency 86 Aachen I should have been allowed to vote on the election proposal for constituency 86 Aachen II. Despite inquiries, this could not be proven.
