Warning strike on Tuesday: restrictions in administration and city operations
The union members of the city administration have also been called to go on warning strike tomorrow, Tuesday, February 25. This may have an impact on all areas of the administration and its facilities. It is not possible to calculate which areas will be affected and to what extent. The City of Aachen therefore asks for your understanding in advance if areas and facilities on strike are not open on the day without prior notice or can only operate to a limited extent.
Childcare cannot be guaranteed in the city's daycare centers and open all-day schools (OGS). The exact extent of the impact of the strike cannot be predicted. The Eilendorf recycling center will remain closed tomorrow due to the strike.
The Call Aachen service center will only be available to a very limited extent from 1 pm tomorrow. Operations will have to be suspended from 4 p.m. due to the warning strike.
Waste collection is also expected to be canceled throughout the city tomorrow. Re-emptying will be offered during the next regular waste disposal days. For the areas affected by the strike, this means that the canceled collection on Tuesday, February 25, will be made up as follows:
- The weekly residual waste garbage cans will be emptied on March 5 (postponed due to Rose Monday).
- The emptying of the 2-weekly residual waste garbage cans and the organic waste garbage cans will be postponed to March 11.
- The 4-weekly residual waste garbage cans and paper garbage cans will be emptied on March 25.
In this exceptional situation, surplus waste, i.e. waste that regularly accumulates during this period, may also be made available for collection on the specified disposal date in the areas affected by the strike. The quantity is limited: A maximum of one standard bin liner (e.g. blue bin liner) per two-wheeled bin may be provided as additional waste. The collection dates may not be used for household clearances or similar.
Excess waste must also be put out for collection by residents on the street on collection day, even for full-service properties. Waste paper can be placed in boxes for regular paper collection. Alternatively, the recycling centers are also available for additional quantities of waste paper.
If waste management capacities are available, the 4-week bins will be emptied in advance, depending on the number of staff available. For this purpose, the containers with white lids can be made available on the following disposal days.
