Warning strike: waste collection will be rescheduled for the next regular disposal date
Due to the warning strike called by municipal employees today, Monday, February 24, waste collection has been canceled throughout the city.
A follow-up collection will be offered on the next regular disposal days. For the areas affected by the strike, this means that the canceled collection on Monday, February 24, will be made up as follows:
- The weekly residual waste garbage cans will be emptied on March 4 (postponed due to Rose Monday).
- The emptying of the 2-weekly residual waste garbage cans and the organic waste garbage cans will be postponed to March 10.
- The 4-weekly residual waste garbage cans and paper garbage cans will be emptied on March 24.
In this exceptional situation, surplus waste, i.e. waste that regularly accumulates during this period, may also be made available for collection on the specified disposal date in the areas affected by the strike. The quantity is limited: A maximum of one standard bin liner (e.g. blue bin liner) per two-wheeled bin may be provided as additional waste. The collection dates may not be used for household clearances or similar.
Excess waste must also be put out for collection on the street on the collection day, even for full-service properties. Waste paper can be placed in boxes for regular paper collection. Alternatively, the recycling centers are also available for additional quantities of waste paper.
If waste management capacities are available, the 4-week bins will be emptied in advance, depending on the number of staff available. For this purpose, the containers with white lids can be provided on the following disposal days.
The Eilendorf recycling center will be closed today, Monday, February 24, due to the strike.
The bulky goods collection took place as planned.
