Local politics in the week from February 24 to March 2
Next week, Aachen's street carnival reaches its peak phase. Nevertheless, four local political meetings are scheduled - including one of the district election committee on Carnival Friday.
Tuesday, February 25
The Committee for the Environment and Climate Protection meets at 5 p.m. in the Council Chamber at Aachen Town Hall. Topics include municipal heat planning, the creation of a disaster prevention plan and a status report on the "Flip" project.
The Finance Committee meeting begins at 5 p.m. in the meeting room of Haus Löwenstein. Three of the topics: an excise tax on disposable packaging, an increase in the association levy of the Region Aachen Zweckverband this year and the 2025 budget discussions.
Wednesday, February 26,
The Aachen City Council also meets at 5 p.m. in the council chamber. Discussions will include a statement by the City of Aachen on the Renewable Energies sub-plan for the Cologne regional plan and the revocation of the bylaws for the Aachen-Brand redevelopment area. Decisions will also be taken on the business plans of the Eurogress, the Eigenbetrieb Kultur and the Volkshochschule. At 6.11 p.m., it gets jolly in the Coronation Hall: the foolish council meeting begins!
Friday, February 28,
The meeting of the district electoral committee (Bundestag election 2025) starts at 12.45 pm in the council chamber. The result of the election will be determined there.
