Warning strike: waste collection will be rescheduled for the next regular disposal date
Due to the warning strike called by the employees of Aachen's municipal services today, Wednesday, February 19, waste collection has been canceled throughout the city.
Waste will be emptied again on the next regular disposal days. For the areas affected by the strike, this means that today's canceled collections will be made up as follows:
- The weekly residual waste garbage cans will be emptied on February 26.
- The emptying of the 2-weekly residual waste garbage cans and the organic waste garbage cans has been postponed to Thursday, March 6. The postponement from Wednesday to Thursday is due to Rose Monday on March 3.
- The 4-weekly residual waste garbage cans and paper garbage cans will be emptied again on Wednesday, March 19.
In this exceptional situation, surplus waste, i.e. waste that regularly accumulates during this period, may also be put out for collection on the specified disposal date in the areas affected by the strike. A maximum of one standard refuse sack (e.g. blue refuse sack; no official residual waste sack is required!) per garbage can with two wheels may be provided as additional waste. For larger garbage cans, the number of bin liners may be increased accordingly. The re-emptying dates may not be used for household clearances or similar.
Excess waste must also be provided by citizens for collection on the collection day at the street for full-service objects, i.e. waste containers that are collected from the collection point on the day of collection and returned there after emptying. Waste paper can be placed in boxes for regular paper collection. Alternatively, the recycling centers are also available for additional quantities of waste paper.
If waste management capacities are available, the 4-week bins will be emptied in advance, depending on the number of staff available. For this purpose, the containers with white lids can be made available on the following disposal days.
