Europe on Tuesday: The European Union's new AI regulation
Can we trust artificial intelligence (AI)? Where are the dangers lurking? And what limits should AI technology have? Prof. Dr. André Steimers from Koblenz University of Applied Sciences will address these and other questions in his lecture on Tuesday, February 18, at 7 pm. The event, followed by a discussion, is part of the "Europe on Tuesday" series and will be held in the Grashaus at Fischmarkt 3.
AI is revolutionizing the world of work, from offices to construction sites. It can generate images, write texts, create short videos, compose songs and much more. But the technology also comes with risks. A few days ago, the European Union's AI regulation came into force, which is intended to provide citizens with the best possible protection and give the economy guidelines. Trustworthiness and a future-proof legal system are the focus of this regulation.
But what does trustworthiness actually mean? And has the EU succeeded in mastering this challenging task? Prof. Dr. Steimers was involved in the development process of the AI regulation and provides an insight into the challenges. He also explains the need for trustworthy AIs.
