Local politics in the week from February 10 to 16
The next municipal policy week includes five meetings. The sports, planning and main committees will be discussing the budget.
Tuesday, February 11
The meeting of the sports committee starts at 5 p.m. in the meeting room of Haus Löwenstein. For example, the 2025 budget discussions for sports funding are on the agenda. In addition, the Stadtsportbund Aachen will report to the committee and a decision will be made on grants for the procurement of sports equipment.
Wednesday, February 12
The main committee will meet in the council chamber of Aachen City Hall from 5 pm. Three of the public items on the agenda are the main committee's budget discussions for 2025, an application for funding to implement the framework program for the World Equestrian Games Aachen 2026 and the construction stop for the central operating theatre at Aachen University Hospital.
Thursday, 13 February
The Seniors' Council meets at 10 a.m. in the Nadelfabrik on Reichsweg (seminar room two). The agenda includes a presentation on organ donation, proposed topics for the Seniors' Council for 2025 and annual reports.
The meeting of the Committee for Science and Digitization begins at 5 p.m. in the administration building on Maria-Theresia-Allee (Campus meeting room). The committee will discuss, for example, the status of digitalization after one year of Department 15, a status report on the "Schule digital" competence team and a report on the "DigitalPakt Schule NRW" funding programme.
The planning committee will also meet at 5 p.m. in the council meeting room. Three of the topics: the 2025 budget consultations including medium-term financial planning up to 2028, municipal heating planning and the development of prospects for four building blocks as part of the preparatory studies for the eastern city center.
