The Rathaus parking garage is closed for renovation

The Rathaus parking garage on Mostardstraße has been closed for renovation since January 13, 2025 until 2026. The city is asking all drivers to use the neighboring parking garages in the city center. After the closure of the parking garage, many people still try their luck and drive to the closed parking garage via the relatively narrow streets Neupforte and Mostardstraße.

Individual parking decks of the Rathaus multi-storey parking lot are expected to be available for use again from June 2026, provided that the renovation goes according to plan. The bike station at the Rathaus multi-storey parking lot will be kept in operation as far as possible.

The renovation of the 60-year-old building is unavoidable. This is the only way to ensure the long-term safety and functionality of the parking garage. The concrete walls and ceilings need to be extensively repaired. The entire technical building equipment will be renewed.

During the renovation work, drivers should use the parking garages close to the city center. These include the following parking garages: Großkölnstraße (Seilgraben entrance), Couvenstraße am Bushof, EBV Carré (Schumacherstraße), Eurogress (Monheimsallee), Adalbertstraße (Blondelstraße), Galeria Kaufhof/City (Wirichsbongardstraße, Borngasse, Wespienstraße), Dom (Jesuitenstraße) and Annastraße.

The number of free parking spaces in the parking garages is displayed in real time in the city of Aachen's mobility dashboard: www.verkehr.aachen.de
