The Peace Light 2025 burns in Aachen Town Hall, where Lord Mayor Dr. Ziemons receives "A Spark of Courage".
Since 1994, German scouts have been distributing the Light of Peace from Bethlehem and ensuring that this symbol of hope for peace shines at Christmas in numerous parishes and living rooms, hospitals and kindergartens, retirement homes, town halls and prisons. Lord Mayor Dr. Ziemons has now received the light from the diocesan curate of the St. George Scout Association, Katharina Rexing. "The motto of this year's Peace Light is "A spark of courage" and reminds us that courage, hope and peace start small and are carried forward through joint action. "A spark of courage" now also emanates from the heart of our city," said Lord Mayor Dr. Michael Ziemons.
The sending out of the light of peace took place on the 3rd Advent in Aachen Cathedral. After the sending out ceremony, the scouts took the light to their tribes and communities throughout the diocese of Aachen and distributed it further. The lighting and passing on of the Light of Peace from Bethlehem is a reminder of the Christmas message "Peace on Earth" and its realization. The Light of Peace campaign in the diocese of Aachen is a joint campaign of the Pfadfinder*innenschaft Sankt Georg (PSG) and the Deutsche Pfadfinder*innenschaft Sankt Georg (DPSG).
