It's an important decision for children and parents: Which secondary school should they go to after elementary school? Which type of school is the right one? Now that open days and information events are already being offered at many of the schools, the registration deadlines for the coming 2026/2027 school year have also been set.

As always, the comprehensive schools will start with an early application process from Friday, February 6, 2026 to Friday, February 13, 2026 due to the great popularity and limited number of places. The admission decision will be made by Friday, February 20, 2026.

Once this process has been completed, applications will continue from Monday, February 23, 2026, until Friday, March 23, 2026, at the city's Hauptschulen, Realschulen and Gymnasien.

An important note: The application procedures for the private, non-urban grammar schools will take place at different times from the end of January or beginning of February 2026:
