The cooperation between the Kulturtafel für Aachen und die Städteregion e.V. and the Kulturbetrieb der Stadt Aachen, Theater Aachen and vhs Aachen has got off to a successful start. 90 tickets have been made available by the Kulturbetrieb since the beginning of September, including tickets for the "Animations" and Theaterstarter series, "Six for Six" tickets for the museums and for the candlelight concerts in the Aula Carolina.

Free admission to cultural events
"We are happy to support the Kulturtafel, which provides tickets for our diverse range of events and thus enables culture for new target groups and social participation for everyone," emphasizes Irit Tirtey, Managing Director of the cultural company.

The Kulturtafel for Aachen and the StädteRegion was founded in May 2025 as a non-profit association. It provides free tickets for cultural events to people on low incomes on a voluntary basis. The tickets are provided free of charge by the cultural institutions. The response from cultural professionals was overwhelming right from the start.

Theater Aachen offers over 300 tickets at
Theater Aachen and the vhs Aachen also support the Kulturtafel. "Theater Aachen expressly welcomes the Kulturtafel initiative. It makes an important contribution to enabling cultural participation for all people - regardless of their financial means. We are already familiar with the concept from other cities and are delighted that Ms. Siekmann has now established this valuable idea in Aachen," emphasizes General Director Elena Tzavara. So far, Theater Aachen has offered 306 tickets for 27 dates. These included twelve opportunities to attend a concert or a theater production and three extra events.

Cooking courses, city tours and study trips at the vhs
The cooperation with the vhs Aachen has been in place since the second semester of 2025. Kulturtafel guests can choose from (almost) the entire fee-based program in the field of art and culture. So far, a cooking course with a slow food theme, city tours on various topics such as culinary Aachen, water in Aachen, a workshop tour in the theater, a course on architectural history, a study trip to the Frankfurt Book Fair, a study trip with an art history theme and an art history course have been booked. The focus is on the cultural board's ability to mediate between the variety of offers and the interests of the guests. "For us as vhs Aachen, it is important that we make education and culture available to everyone - regardless of income or social status. The Kulturtafel fits in perfectly with this, as it brings social participation to life and enables real equality of opportunity," explains Dr. Beate Blüggel, Director of vhs Aachen.
