New fitness benches at the Kupferbach reservoir and on Kaiser Friedrich Allee expand the city's range of exercise options
For most people, a bench is just a place to rest - not so the two new fitness benches that were purchased by the city for the first time and recently installed by Aachener Stadtbetrieb: one at the Kupferbach reservoir and one at the Kaiser-Friedrich-Allee playground. This expands the range of public exercise options in the city of Aachen. The fitness benches are a measure from the municipal sports development plan.
The fitness benches are very different from ordinary benches. They are specially designed to enable warm-up, stretching, athletic and strength exercises. Although they can also be used for sitting, their stability, material and design are clearly geared towards sporting requirements. The backrests of the benches feature instructions and instructions for exercise sequences that are intended to encourage not only athletes but also walkers to exercise.
The fitness bench on Kaiser-Friedrich-Allee complements the running track there, which is popular with athletes, thus expanding the training options. And to make this area even more attractive, a renewal of the path surface in the Aachen-Münchener-Alle area has already been commissioned. This will be implemented immediately after completion of the current Regionetz construction project. The location of the second fitness bench was also chosen to suit a much frequented running route.
With this new equipment, the city of Aachen wants to encourage people of all ages and fitness levels to integrate exercise into their everyday lives in an uncomplicated way and expand the range of sports on offer in public spaces.
