A warm welcome: 110 new recruits for the City of Aachen

  • 110 trainees start their training at the City of Aachen on August 1.
  • The diversity of the entire city administration is now reflected in 45 different apprenticeships.
  • A total of 163 trainees will start their service in the various parts of the city administration in 2025.

On Friday, August 1, the City of Aachen welcomed 110 new trainees who will begin their training in various departments of the city administration. Lord Mayor Sibylle Keupen warmly welcomed the new colleagues in the Coronation Hall of the Town Hall: "You've come to the right place. And this important location in our city is just right for your start here, at the beginning of a long, successful career, which we hope you will also complete with the City of Aachen". Because, as the Lord Mayor made clear: "We need you and your experience." It is important to the Lord Mayor that administration should be understood as a learning system. "Approach the task in a constructive and creative way, ask critical questions. Help us to optimize our work. We are counting on you."

Helping to shape the future of the city
Together with the new colleagues, a total of 366 trainees are currently working for the City of Aachen. They can get to know the diversity of the city administration in 45 different training occupations. Dr. Markus Kremer, Deputy for Human Resources, Fire Service and Sport, introduced the new colleagues to the city and the administration in all its facets, explained the exciting range of new tasks and gave the trainees a direct message: "You are part of a big picture. We all contribute every day with our work to making the city function. But we also help to achieve major goals in this city. We want to shape the future, make the city more attractive and offer future generations a good basis."

A total of 163 trainees in 2025
Head of Training Birgit Krott also warmly welcomed the new colleagues and appealed to those present: "Be open and curious. Get involved. You can ask questions and bring a breath of fresh air. We wish you all a great training period."

A total of 163 trainees are starting their service with the City of Aachen this year. The new colleagues from the areas of administration, education, social work and the industrial/technical sector will be joined by junior staff who have already started or will start their service with the fire department in spring.
