Hangeweiher parking lot: parking time limited to four hours

The parking duration at the municipal parking lot Hangeweiher on Hermann-Löns-Allee will be limited to four hours from 1 May 2025. The rule applies Monday to Saturday from 7 am to 9 pm. Drivers must prove the parking time with a parking disk.

The corresponding new signage was put up at the two entrances and exits to the parking lot in April. The new regulation will be introduced at the start of the outdoor pool season on May 1.

In February, the city checked how the parking lot was used on three selected days (18, 19 and 23 February) and at selected times of day. During this parking space survey, it found that there was a high proportion of long-term parkers and therefore a low turnover of vehicles in the parking lot. This means that the utilization of the parking lot has increased significantly in recent months.

The tense situation in the parking lot is to be changed in the short term and with a view to the outdoor pool season starting on May 1 with the new parking regulations. In the opinion of the administration, this is the only way to ensure that the vehicles parked in the parking lot change more frequently over the course of the day. The short-term solution offers an advantage for the majority of parking lot users because the parking lot is easier to use than at present.

The administration is aware that the four-hour limit will not be sufficient for all long-term visitors to the outdoor pool and Park+Ride users. However, it assumes that the solution that has now been found is a suitable compromise between usage time and availability for the time being.

The administration is already working on a solution to improve the situation in the long term. It is likely that the parking lot will be permanently managed and equipped with a barrier system.
