City advises and distributes seeds: How to turn lawns into flower meadows?
Turning a patch of lawn into a wildflower meadow can do a lot for the urban climate and biodiversity. Whether ten or 100 square meters - the important thing is that the area is not used, has moderate to full sunlight and is free of trees and shrubs. A wildflower meadow can be sown until the end of April.
But which areas are suitable and how can this be done? As part of the FLIP project (Promoting the quality of life of insects and people through perfect meadow worlds), which is funded by the Federal Biodiversity Program, the City of Aachen is offering free advice and high-quality, regionally typical wild plant seeds this year.
If you are interested, please contact Anika Au from the Climate and Environment department at flip@mail.aachen.de or call 0241-43236113.
There will be a second chance to sow later this year from mid-August to the end of September, when the project ends.
