Aachen residents collect 8.3 tons of litter during spring cleaning

Numerous mattresses and old tires, wooden panels, but especially cigarette butts and plastic packaging were among the finds that were collected during the 11th Aachen Spring Clean. 4,650 Aachen residents, including families, groups from associations and companies, as well as numerous children and young people, were out and about in the city last week to collect litter. A total of 8.3 tons were collected over the six days. "We are delighted that the joint campaign was so well received once again," says Manuela Wolf from the waste management team at Aachener Stadtbetrieb.

The commitment of the participants was evident throughout the city. "Working together for a clean city" was the motto of the campaign organized by Aachener Stadtbetrieb. The aim was to focus on the cleanliness of the city and raise awareness of the fact that each individual should treat their own immediate surroundings and nature with care and also take responsibility for them.

Note
Private individuals, clubs, daycare centers and schools who want to collect waste on a voluntary basis and work together with Aachener Stadtbetrieb to keep Aachen clean can do so all year round: Stadtbetrieb supports private waste collection campaigns and provides waste bags and gloves in the same way as for spring cleaning. All information and the opportunity to register can be found on the homepage aachener-stadtbetrieb.de.
