Local politics in the week from April 7 to 13
In the week before the Easter vacations, seven local political bodies meet again for six sessions. The Aachen City Council is one of them. And at one of the meetings, two committees will meet together.
Tuesday, April 8
The Nature Conservation Advisory Board will kick things off at 5 p.m. in the Campus meeting room in the administration building on Maria-Theresia-Allee. The only item on the agenda in the public part of the meeting is the Chairman's report on participation cases.
Wednesday, April 9
The Aachen City Council meets at 5 p.m. in the meeting room of Aachen City Hall. One topic is the "Ordnungsbehördliche Verordnung über das Offenhalten von Verkaufsstellen an Sonntagen für das Jahr 2025" (Ordinance on keeping sales outlets open on Sundays for the year 2025). Two other topics are the introduction of the payment card for recipients of benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act and a status report on the city's cultural profile.
Thursday, 10 April
The meeting Thursday starts at 10 a.m. with the Seniors' Council in seminar room 2 in the Nadelfabrik on Reichsweg. Three of the topics: an exchange with Mayoress Keupen on the "Aachen shows commitment" day of action on May 18, a presentation "Presentation and focus of the meeting centers in Aachen" by Gunhild Großmann, head of the Protestant initiative "Engagiert älter werden" and a status analysis of the catering situation for older people in the districts.
A joint special meeting of the Mobility Committee and the Aachen-Mitte district council will begin at 5 p.m., dealing with the "Harscampstraße, Schildstraße, 'Schildplatz' interdependence area" and the associated implementation resolution. From 6 p.m., the meeting of the Mobility Committee will be held, at which, among other things, a rail freight transport study for the Rhineland, the results of a follow-up survey in the residents' parking zone M (Habsburgerallee) and the adaptation of the road traffic regulations will be discussed. Both meetings will take place in the council meeting room of the town hall.
A presentation of the results of the second "Smart City Ideas Competition", an update on activities and projects in the area of "Digitality and Innovations in Mobility" and the introduction of the "Online Wedding Calendar" are three of the topics discussed by the Committee for Science and Digitalization. The meeting starts at 5 p.m. in the Campus meeting room in the Maria-Theresia-Allee building.
