Local politics in the week from September 30 to October 6
Due to the public holiday on Thursday, a short municipal policy week lies ahead. However, with six meetings over two days.
Tuesday, October 1
The meeting of the VHS operating committee starts at 5 p.m. in the forum of the Volkshochschule Aachen on Peterstraße. Items on the agenda include the laying of stumbling blocks as part of a project by Cologne artist Gunter Demnig, the further education college of the Aachen city region with the discontinuation of the "Abendrealschule und Perspektive" course and the program for the nationwide Reading Aloud Day on 15 November.
The meeting of the Finance Committee will also take place at 5 p.m. in the Council Chamber of Aachen City Hall. The opportunities and risks of the budget, the status report on the property tax calculation and the demolition of the former police headquarters on Hubert-Wienen-Straße for the planned Soers sports park will be discussed.
At the same time, the meeting of the Nature Conservation Advisory Board will take place in the Campus meeting room (SG113) on Maria-Theresia-Allee. The topics are the Chairman's report on participation cases and the designation of a sweet chestnut tree designated as a natural monument as a national heritage tree.
The meeting of the Environment and Climate Protection Committee will also begin at the same time. On the agenda are the forestry management plan for 2025 and the organizational review of the fire and rescue service department, as well as the status report on the properties of the Aachen fire department.
Wednesday, October 2
The meeting of the Integration Council begins at 5 p.m. in the council chamber of Aachen City Hall. The "BildungsAixpo - 1st Aachen careers and education fair by young people for young people" and the association "de.Perspektive e.V. Aachen" will introduce themselves. In addition, a survey of migrant organizations on the evaluation and future cooperation with the Integration Council of the City of Aachen will be discussed.
The meeting of the Aachen-Haaren district council will take place at 6 p.m. in the meeting room of the Bürgerhaus in Germanusstraße. The following topics will be discussed: the status of the Haaren integrated urban development concept and the allocation of district investment and disposition funds for 2024.
