Mobile communications expansion in the city of Aachen is progressing: Telekom opens up new site in Kornelimünster

On Bilstermühler Straße in Kornelimünster, a mobile phone mast is now clearly visible. Deutsche Telekom recently put a newly built transmitter into operation there, opening up a new location that will significantly improve mobile coverage. The new mast provides significantly better network coverage and faster data connections so that residents of Kornelimünster can make reliable phone calls and surf the internet.

"The new location enables top download speeds of up to 606 Mbps and upload speeds of 197 Mbps in the surrounding area," explains Frank Weinbrenner from Telekom, after measuring the data rates in the vicinity of the new cell tower. Streaming or sending and receiving large amounts of data is now also much faster. The city of Aachen is also extremely satisfied with the development. Last year, a mobile phone measurement survey revealed a number of gaps in the operators' networks. Lisa Ebach, mobile communications coordinator for the city of Aachen, explains that these gaps will gradually close with the new transmitter sites. And emphasizes, not without pride: "Mobile phone reception in the city is constantly improving".

Deutsche Funkturm GmbH operates the mast for all network operators. Discussions are currently underway with the network providers Vodafone, Telefónica and 1&1, who will also be able to use the mast alongside Telekom in the future.

At the new site in Kornelimünster: Frank Weinbrenner, Telekom's municipal contact, and Lisa Ebach, mobile communications coordinator for the city of Aachen, are pleased with the good cooperation.
