"Pimp My Future": Young people shape Aachen's future
Sustainability, youth participation and local politics are the focus of the three-day workshop "Pimp My Future", which will take place from November 6 to 8 in Aachen's Nadelfabrik. Over 100 schoolchildren will have the opportunity to contribute their ideas for a sustainable future and actively influence local political processes in Aachen.
Together with local experts and local politicians, the young people develop practical solutions to current sustainability issues over the course of the three-day future workshop. They are supported by a media team of pupils who accompany the entire process and document the results.
Public closing plenary session in the town hall - citizens are invited!
The highlight of the workshop will be the final public plenary session on Friday, November 8. From 11.15 a.m. to 2 p.m., all interested Aachen residents will have the opportunity to be present in the Coronation Hall of Aachen Town Hall when the young people present their ideas and vote on specific proposals under the direction of Lord Mayor Sibylle Keupen. This is not only a hands-on political event, but also an opportunity to rethink the city with the impulses of the younger generation. The proposals are to be submitted to the City of Aachen's citizens' forum next year and thus incorporated into the local political decision-making processes. In this way, the students have the opportunity to initiate real change.
The future workshop is organized by "Politik zum Anfassen e. V.", an independent, non-partisan and non-profit association, and sponsored by the City of Aachen's departments of Citizens' Dialogue and Administrative Management, Climate and Environment, and Children, Youth and Schools.
