Försterstraße: The street will be redesigned from October 28
The city is redesigning Försterstraße between Lousbergstraße and Nizzaallee. Construction work will begin on Monday, October 28 and will be carried out in sections with full road closures. It will start with a section around 50 meters long from the junction of Lousbergstraße and Försterstraße. As part of the redesign, the road space will be redistributed. The aim is to improve road safety, comfort and accessibility, particularly for pedestrians. The city is also planting five new trees, erecting two benches and an e-charging station and installing 14 bicycle racks. Construction is expected to be completed in June 2025.
On June 1, 2023, the politicians passed the implementation resolution in the Mobility Committee and thus commissioned the administration with the redesign of Försterstrasse following the completion of the renewal of supply and disposal lines by Regionetz. The work by Regionetz was completed in August 2023. Försterstraße is part of the city of Aachen's premium footpath concept and fulfills an important function for pedestrian traffic as a link between Aachen's city centre and the recreational area on the Lousberg.
