Collecting kilometers with "Stadt - Land - zu Fuß"
In Aachen, from November 1 to 21, the motto is "City - Country - on Foot" for the first time. The aim of the Germany-wide campaign is to collect kilometers together - on foot - similar to the city cycling campaign that has been established for years. Every everyday journey, every walk and every sporting activity counts.
Aachen competes with other participating municipalities, but the focus is not on competition, but on having fun exercising, being active together in the fresh air and promoting walking as the most sustainable form of mobility. Participation also offers the opportunity to strengthen the immune system in the cooler months of the year.
This year, the event will focus on the aspect of everyday mobility. In addition, the attractiveness of footpaths in cities will be examined. You can take part either alone or in teams, which offers the opportunity to compete as a company or club. This allows you to compete with other Aachen teams and increase team spirit.
Participating municipalities are divided into three size categories according to the number of inhabitants. The ranking is based on the kilometers collected in relation to the number of inhabitants of the city. Participants will not be tracked via GPS. However, the participants' entries will be subjected to a plausibility check by the organizer's team.
