The city of Aachen is setting an example for sustainable mobility and is launching a success-based "commuter pooling" as part of its "clever mobil" program. Companies in the city and StädteRegion Aachen can participate in the program free of charge. Employees can try out free commuter rides during the carpooling test weeks.

From 28 October 2024, employees of companies, businesses and institutions already participating in the "clever mobil" program can try out free commuter travel. Participants can organize their journeys via the free go-FLUX app, form carpools and thus get to know the convenience of commuting together. The test weeks run for three months per company. Interested companies can take advantage of this opportunity by participating in the "clever mobil" program.

The aim of this campaign is to show commuters in the region how easy and effective it can be to ride together - while at the same time protecting the environment and the budget.

"Our aim is to make sustainable commuting attractive and easy.

Carpooling offers an excellent opportunity to make mobility more environmentally friendly and promote social contacts at the same time," says Christian Thommes from the Mobility Management team at the City of Aachen.

All employees who use the carpooling offer during the test weeks can save fuel and actively contribute to climate protection. A single carpool can replace several individual vehicles. This can significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, driving together promotes a sense of community and strengthens social cohesion in the city and city-region of Aachen.

The "clever mobil" program is all about corporate mobility management. The focus is on supporting businesses, companies and institutions in the city and StädteRegion Aachen that want to introduce or improve mobility management.
